Message They have to be engineered into new cars and all add weight. Manufacturers are required to do this to make their cars legal, so I don't think the 'weight reduction' that Nissan is currently trumpeting will result in fast, light sports cars.

People also want A/C and power everything in their cars, which doesn't help. So power is increased to compensate.

Unless Nissan introduces a true successor to the _original_ 240Z, ie: cheap, fast and light, which they sorta tried with the 350Z (not a 350ZX, note) introducing a Z derived twin turbo powerhouse isn't going to kick the new GTR off the top of the Nissan heap. At least currently. I could be wrong, and sorta hope I am. At least they could hire some competent exterior designers.
